“Dura”

Part of the “Dura” series - about a person who looks at a life fully lived and accepts it without judgment. The word is deliberately left in Russian: in the culture it comes from, calling someone close a “dura” with warmth isn’t a verdict but a form of indulgent love and acceptance. The painting is about the fact that understanding never guarantees anything against life, and the capacity to make the same mistake again and again while following the heart is a deeply human quality, not a shameful one.
